Topic: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

Hey guys the setting infill every "n" layers gives me a error.

Kicks back a generated g-code not found.

It will only work with if i set it to infill every 1 layer.

I'm running a .3m print.

Also as far as the treading goes under advanced. Whats a good setting for it right now its at 2.
I got a i7 3770k @ 3.5ghz.
Some objects are taking 5+ minutes to slice.

Re: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

I have an i5-2500K @ 3.3ghz and 16GB RAM. Most objects slice in under a minute or two depending on the object and layer height. I've had some take 5+ minutes if they are complex or have minor issues.

E3D-v4 Hotend, MK5 carriage with round plastic wire conduit , 3/16" tempered glass,  Well nut, SureStepr SD8825 1/32 Extruder Driver, PowerEdge 2650 500W PS, QU-BD heated bed, circuit board fan, hinged plexiglass enclosure with plastic tray top. Other than that mostly stock SD3

If at .3mm on the infill every nth layer it cant be more than one. example  infill every 2 layers is .6mm  which does exceed the nozzle diameter. You can use infill every3 layers if you use .1mm Maybe why you are getting that error

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Whats the best may to speed up prints? Right now I'm trying honeycomb at .05 infill.

Does it matter if the prints do not have the resolution? if so then I would get a .5 nozzle and up your z spacing(lower z res) I have one machine doing this for parts that are structural and surface finish is not a necessity cuts the print time down considerably smile If on the other hand your prints do not require accuracy or finish somewhat then you could simply turn up the printing speed... both perimeters and infill... it all depends on what your printing and how you want it to look.

Re: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

Well, I wanted to print models to paint at first. I get uneven edges that i have been fixing with a knife. So, I didn't attempt to print any of them out yet. The resolution has been pretty bad. I just got the printer and apparently there is a huge learning curve.

Re: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

I think the bed moving during prints is the cause. I will work on doing www.soliforum.com/topic/2341/poor-mans-antibacklash-nut-no-assembly-required/ first.

Re: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

You should be able to post up some pics in a couple more posts, show us what your getting and perhaps we can offer some help in ways to improve the prints... sometimes it's just a setting or two that makes the difference between really bad prints and awesome prints smile

Re: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

I added a aluminum enclosure to the doodle.  Wow!  Does that keep the heat in.

I printed a car cd holder for my massive note 2 cell phone.  It came out pretty good.

One side has no banding while the other has moderate banding.

I really would like some tips on how to eliminate this because printing my favorite league of legends characters is one the reasons I got the printer.

Re: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

Something I observed is that when tightening the belts on the Y axis, tightening the front screw too tight will cause the layers to band (exceed the original layer) to the rear of the printed object. Tightening the rear Y aixs belt adjusting screws will cause the banding on the front of the object. You may look at your belt adjustments and fiddle with them a bit.

After tightening the belts you need to equalize the tension on the y axis by loosening one of the back y-shaft outer pulleys and letting the differential torque unspring... for lack of a better term smile then tighten the pulley up again and print away.

Don't forget that you can contact the developers of Slic3r directly for some of the weirder problems. I follow their mailing list, and strange crashes do come up from time to time in Slic3r.

Former Solidoodle employee, no longer associated with the company.

Re: Slic3r error when adjusting infill layers

Thanks! I never really bothered with the belt tension. Before I printed the wire bundle guide the wires would really mess with the belt on the left side so maybe it threw it off.
