Topic: hatchbox not printing as good as xyz clear blue

So, i just tried the new hatchbox grey i picked up from amazon, and it does not print nearly as well as the clear blue from xyz. I am confused haha. here are some pics of what i mean. The clear blue has no "leaks" between lines. But the grey stuff does.

I used XYZPRINT for the hatchbox not XYZWARE, though i will try XYZWARE and see if there is a difference. I used XYZWARE for the green and blue prints. It could be a software isuue. I like XYZPRINT because it has a new surface ironing feature. XYZWARE does not

Here is a few pics of the first test print. The first layers were gappy and had spaces.

This next one is of the final layer. its got gaps. Its as if the extruder is not extruding it as thick as the xyz stuff. I have it on the exact same settings as the clear blue prints:)

I am going to do a first layer print of each color and show you what i mean. In the mean time, why is this hapening haha

thanks

Settings for both prints:

i used all defaults.

good quality
0.3 layer height
10% infil
normal speed (whatever that means haha)
no temp increase
no retract length or speed increase

Looks like under extrusion to me, try increasing the heat and/or slowing things down, maybe your new filament is thicker (viscus) and your not able to push it  through the hotend fast enough.

Here are some more photos of first layer tests

here are some of the clear blue. there are no gaps. I have also measured the OD with my digital calipers and both filiments measure the same 1.78mm

I like that idea. thats my thinking at first was the viscousity of it but was not sure. Ill increase the heat by 3 degrees and see what happens. I will keep all other settings the same.

different color of filament require different temperature. I agree with David that you need to raise nozzle temperature.

To improve Jr. print quality, add layer cooling fan and slice stl model with Cura and convert to .3w with Threedub, you can find instruction in the forum somewhere.

Re: hatchbox not printing as good as xyz clear blue

i did print the layer fan:) and have been using it. i will increase temp and post more pics

Dont i have to have a header file from an old .3w for cura or slic3r to work for the jr? if so, then i may or may not. i like to see how much time it will take for the print and using an old .3w file will take that option away haha

Re: hatchbox not printing as good as xyz clear blue

Object sliced by Cura will take longer to print than xyzware, xyzware sliced object have thicker lines and larger distance between lines, therefor it take less time to finish the print, but this will slightly negatively affect print quality and have higher requirement on the filament quality. That is why most xyzprinting filament is clear. 3rd party filament usually need to print at higher temperature to fill the wider gap between lines and Da Vinci printer often not equipped with layer cooling fan and will result in oozing.

Re: hatchbox not printing as good as xyz clear blue

Ok, i am starting a print with a 5 degree increase. I will see how this does. I do have the layer cooling fan and i am not using cura.

thanks

EDIT:

5degress is pretty good but 10 is the best:) my prints look pretty good.  time to check the other thread on cura haha

thanks again guys. i did not know that each color has its own specific temp range but it makes sense
