Topic: Solidoodle 2 for sale in Vancouver

Finally selling my printer in Vancouver.  No time for the hobby anymore smile

This is an original Solidoodle 2, from the first few production runs.

Below is the text of the ad

This printer and I have some history. I bought it to publish an academic paper based on realizing an idea from my PhD research. I no longer have time for it, but it is a very serviceable and mod-able printer.

But heed the following warning: THIS PRINTER IS FOR THE SERIOUS MAKER / TINKERER. You should be willing to flash firmware on an arduino, to solder stuff, to spend time researching mods on forums etc. If you just want to 3D print stuff look elsewhere smile

There are some great mods as well as some printed spares and stuff I bought for planned upgrades (I can try to explain these to you). There appears to still be a good community around this printer at http://www.soliforum.com/

For another $100 I'll sell the Windows XP netbook that I was using to drive the printer. I can't guarantee that it will run the latest software but at least you'll have no more Windows updates during your prints wink.

I also have a few filaments, probably ABS and PLA, and perhaps some flexible stuff.

I won't be demoing it at this price but I can show you stuff I have printed in the past.

edit: I just realized how ironic my signature is.

SD2 Sanguinololu 1.3a atmega1284p, wood platform, lawsy's carriages, braided fishing line, pallet wood overhead spool mount, carboard/magnet enclosure, glass bed, E3D v6, bed levelling knobs, extended z-stop, 25A DC-DC SSR for bed heater, everything fixed to the SD2 frame, marlin firmware with some adjustments and extra failsafes enabled.  I'll never give up on you, little printer that could(n't)!
