I just bought a davinci, got it home and turned it on and had that sinking feeling!!
So after doing some research and watching a few vids I find I can reflash the eeprom on the board so it will run on repetier software.
My question though is this. Since the youtube vids were done, there seems to be a lot more options in the configuration settings of the repetier downloads section to fiddle with and potentially muck up so does anyone know what settings to use for a DaVinci 1.0A to enable the thing to work properly?
It is being run from a windows machine with XP PRO.
Thanks.
I think it is a good idea to reflash the eeprom with repetitor-firmware because it give you choice of more slicing software and more printing controls. You can potentially achieve much better printing quality and use 3rd party filaments.
However, read the instruction about how to flash repetitor-firmware and more importantly how to calibrate after the flash. Make sure you are confident that you handle it. I would not recommend it if you don't have lots of 3D printing experience already.
DaVinci 1.0A is known to have hotend jam and wire harness issue, flash repetitor-firmware can make troubleshoot more complicated if you are not experienced at 3D printing quality troubleshoot. It is a good idea to get to know you machine better at its stock condition and try to improve afterwards.
