Topic: Barrel alignment, pellet ingress hole is off to one side

I'm assembling my filastruder and got as far as fitting the barrel.

However, the hole in the barrel is not quite on top, it's rotated to one side (see pic).

Since the flange fixing points are fixed with respect to that hole, I can't see a way to rotate it to be properly on top.

So first off, is this orientation normal? If not, any advice on how to adjust it?

The barrel was pre-assembled with the flange, so I'm not sure it can be rotated (unscrewed a little)

kevfquinn:

That apparent misalignment is normal.  You can have up to 45degrees off and have it still work.  If you try to unscrew it, then it will screw itself back in when you put plastic in and start extruding. However, you will want to watch the alignment while running it for the first few times since it can rotate as you have more force when there is plastic extruding in there.  If it rotates more than 45 degrees, then just take off the flange bolts and turn 90 degrees so that the opening is on the top end again.

Many thanks - good to hear. Onwards with the rest of the build then!
