Topic: Airwolf Axiom Dual Direct settings

My school has purchased an Axiom Dual Direct Drive and I'm trying to get the settings dialed in for flawless prints. I've been selecting the presets for fine and precise modes thinking that these will produce quality prints. The prints have burnt fillament on the top layer and some prints lack fine detail when  trying to print snowflakes for my students.

Are there any necessary tweaks that will result in excellent prints?

Always a good idea to calibrate your extrusion multiplier for each spool of filament since no 2 spools will be the exact same diameter.

How do I go about calibrating?

Re: Airwolf Axiom Dual Direct settings

I may misunderstood the question, It will be helpful to post picture of your print to facilitate the troubleshoot.

I would recommend trying lower temperature and see it the burnt filament and lack of fine detail is improved. You can try to search for temperature tower in thingiverse and print one of those to identify the best temperature for the specific color and material of your filament.

He wants instructions on calibrating the feed rate aka steps per mm of his extruder. It would take less time for him to Google it then it would for somebody to type up the instructions which would not be short.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

In that case, this will be the instructions for Extrusion multiplier calibration

I think he must have tried google search but may not know the correct term for the search.

I think temperature too high and over extrusion can both contribute to "The prints have burnt fillament on the top layer and some prints lack fine detail", would be easy to tell if there is pictures. Doesn't hurt to try both of them.

Re: Airwolf Axiom Dual Direct settings

Thanks guys. I have lowered the temperature and reset the firmware. It seems to have done the trick. I've tested the adjustments with a couple small prints and am not seeing burnt filament and better quality. I've got a FF Creator Pro and jumping into an Airwolf that other teachers have "messed" with is a bit challenging. I think I'm starting to get it figured out.
