Topic: Calibrate new PRINTinZ plate on my da vinci Jr Pro 1.0

Hello,

I just bought a PRINTinZ plate (150x150 mm) for my XYZ da vinci Jr Pro 1.0 3D printer.

It is approximately 4.5 mm thick.

This printer has a z axes auto leveling calibration mechanism (not inductive but with a mechanical switch that i prop a several places on the plate to estimate z axis height).
It also have a Z-offset axes setting.

Can you please tell me the procedure for adjusting my printer to the PRINTinZ plate, i am not sure in what order i shall adjust the z-offset axes setting, what number to enter for this setting?
Also, when i run the z axes auto leveling calibration, i get an "calibration failed", which properly indicate that i do something wrong with regards to the setting of the z-axis, due to the new height of the bed with the  PRINTinZ plate on.

Could you please describe the step by step guide what i shall do?

XYZPrinting auto leveling calibration does not work well. Be prepared to try multiple times. You should adjust your z-offset first. For easy to remember, imagine z-offset as your bed height. The bigger the number, the higher your print bed will be, the smaller space between your bed and nozzle will become. So if you add 4.5 mm plate without remove anything, you should move your bed down 4.5mm, which means your z-offset number should be 4.5mm smaller.

My experience is based on Jr., not Jr. Pro, they should be similar. I don't use auto leveling calibration to level the bed. If you have no luck getting the autoleveling work, turn off auto leveling calibration, then level x-axis according to the video:

If still have leveling issue in Y axis after test print, loose the screw that holds glass plate, and add few piece of paper under the corner of glass to lift the corner as needed. Once leveled, it stay leveled for a really long time.

Hi yizhou.he,

Thank you vert much for your feedback.
I tried to remove the glass plate, and use only the PRINTinZ plate, and that worked and i could use the auto calibration.
It seems that the printer cannot handle the total added height of the glass plate plus the PRINTinZ plate.

Yes, that's why adjust z-offset before auto leveling calibration will help, otherwise the difference in height is too big for auto calibration to work.

Has anyone ever tried to print larger than the 150mm size limit.  there is easily 7mm+ around the limit zone on the plate.   And it does not interfere with the clamps that hold the bed.
