Topic: New DaVinci Jr 1.0 printers with cartridge errors

My kids' school has purchased several DaVinci Jr 1.0 printers for use in their modern learning classrooms, and I've volunteered to help set them up.

The printers are running from a laptop with Win 10 and the XYZWare software installed (not sure what version).
Printers all have FW 2.2.7 on them.

They can print the sample file off the SDCard without issue, but refuses to print from the software. Every time it goes through the slicing, then the printer countdown, and pops up a cartridge error message (incorrect cartridge installed I think it says).

The software correctly detects the filament colour, and is set to the right printer. It does show 2 extruders in the printer options, even though the printer has only one extruder.

Any ideas on how to resolve the cartridge error?

is your software set to the correct printer type when you print?
I had issues after doing an upgrade the only cure was to shut down the printer, and the computer, then restart the computer and restart the printer.

The printer is set to the correct model in the software - it also shows what model it detected, which is the same.

I have tried:
- Restarting printer and PC numerous times
- Swapping cartridges
- Reversing the NFC chip insert (white pieces)

The thing that is weird is that all 3 printers I have tried so far will print from the SD card, but will not print from the software. To my way of thinking, that points more towards a software/USB problem than a cartridge problem (unless printing from the SD card skips the cartridge test?).

I you can identify the software version. I may have an older copy you can have.

I have xyzware 1.2.21.1 that I currently run on my jr (2.2.7) although I have NEVER run connected.  As Mr Clown stated,if you can identify the version of xyzware ( just hit the help button ) and if you want, I can get this to you.

EDIT:  oops 2.1.21.1 is my version

I'm back at the school tomorrow, so I can check the version installed then.

Is it worth having the school's IT block the software from getting through the firewall, so it doesn't update or "call home"?

In my view, yes.  Can you just block the connected computers by updating the host file?

So the software that has been installed on the laptops is v2.1.9.6. What is the best version to install for the 2.2.7 firmware on the printers?

IT can block the application from having internet access, which should prevent updates happening.
