Topic: Stock hotend ripped out heater wire

During an overnight print, one of my heater wires got caught on something and ripped it out of the stock hotend on my Jr 1.0. What should I do about this. I don't really want to purchase a whole new unit for $69. Thanks

Wires are not exposed on the stock jr hot end?  How about a picture showing the problem.

Re: Stock hotend ripped out heater wire

I had the front black shield/cover off because of a fan I had. I'm not totally sure what how it happened. I will get a picture when I'm off work

No worries on the picture.  When you say heater wire, I assume you mean one of the heavy red wires?  Is there any left on the hot end itself, or is it a clean break?
I am not sure if it is a standard heating element or not.  Now would be a good time to upgrade to an E3D , Lite, or clone.

2 x Cartridge Heater 12V 40W For Prusa 3D Reprap Printer Extruder Hotend
https://www.amazon.com/Signstek-Reprap- … dge+Heater
search this on ebay or amazon, you only need one of them but good to have backup

Metal J-head V6 Hotend 1.75mm/0.4mm Nozzle/12V 40W Heater For 3D Printer NTC3950
https://www.amazon.com/ALPTA-J-Head-Ext … er+NTC3950
search this on ebay or Amazon. You will need to print an adapter before you can use this
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1747277
So If you don't have friend near by that can print one for you, buy the Cartridge Heater first, get the printer fixed. and print out a bunch of the adapter, and wait for your printer hotend jam or break again, then you can put the E3D on with the adapter. (I printed out mine long time ago, but my hotend just keep working, sigh!)

If you are prime members, buy it on amazon and get it before weekend, because I can feel your patience is running out...

good luck

Re: Stock hotend ripped out heater wire

Ok, I have been looking into these hotends. I might try to replace the heater in the stock hotend. Thank you all for your help!
