Topic: I'm thinking of buying a S2: can anyone answer some questions?

Hey everybody!

I'm really on the fence about the S2. It's well priced, but I've seen a fair share of people having trouble with the machine.

You guys have a lot of experience with the S2; what would you say the average experience is? Does it just take a little trouble shooting at first, then it's smooth sailing? Or is the machine unreliable half the time, and requires constant fussing? (I would rather pay $1200 for a machine that works 100% of the time rather than $600 for a machine that works 50% of the time)

I would appreciate any feedback you guys can send my way!

Helix i have the sd3 from my won experience the printers are very reliable i've had a fewproblems 1 was a clog int he nozel it wastaken care ofin abotu 5 minutes once i knew what the problem was and how to fix it the other was the pulley for the filament it came lose and had to be tightened and since then its been fine.

You have to realise too that people will always find tiem to complain but look at the numbers printing here that aren't reportign problems just questions, ideas and projects.

In my own experience the sd3 is very relaible and its based off of the exact same design as the sd2

I can say that I bought mine used.  The other owner had good results with PLA.  Then had trouble with ABS and obviously took apart the extruder which I just fixed.  Once I fixed it it seems fine (though I've only had it for few days).

Danger: 'Addams Family' sense of humor.

The maintenance and troubleshooting you'll do with this one you'll still have to do with the 1200 printers.  Ive had only a couple issues and looking back they were largely my fault due inexperience.
