Topic: Getting a lot of strings in prints.

So I'm getting a lot of strings in my recent prints.  I'm using 3rd party filament and have brought the temperature down on the cartridge to 210 from 230 and still getting strings.  I'm getting them on both good and excellent.

Everything says to adjust the retraction, but I don't think this is possible with XYZware, is it?  If it's not, I might go ahead and make the jump to repetier earlier than I thought.   I wanted to wait and learn more about 3D printing first before jumping, but if every print is going to have strings then, there's really no reason to not.

Any other way to deal with strings on xyzware rather than flash and move to a real software?

Standard XYZ software does not allow access to such settings.

His only choice to get better control would be to flash to Repetier and use a different host. Or buy Simplify3d and ise the priyer as is. Simplify3d would allow him access to those settings with XYZ firmware.

Re: Getting a lot of strings in prints.

Youtube video by 3d Print Creator did a video on this. He upped his speed to 60 on the retraction speed.
His channel.

He shows the strings at different speeds and 40 not many if any and 60 clean.

Might help.
Good Luck

You don't have to flash repetier to use your own slicer. Just find ThreeDubber on these forums and use Slic3r or Cura. Much cheaper than Simplify3d and easier than flashing.
