screen not showing

Hi all. I have built a kit printer from a supplier on eBay and the when a mosfet died I replaced the board with a new one from a different supplier as they wanted too much for the same board. Once installed all was fine via the laptop but no screen. Its a firmware problem I know but I'm not sure where to find it to make the changes. It's a kit version of a CTC printer if that helps. It came with a old version of Cura which I have updated to the latest version 15.04.6. Any help appreciated as I have looked through the forum and just confused myself further.
