Topic: fixing stepper on davinci duo without frying the stepper control???

so i had to go with a different stepper motor it should be this one  http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINEBEA-STEP-ST … TB:US:3160
but i had to go with this one due to the right one is to long by 4mm so i got this today in the mail http://www.ebay.com/itm/331616614532?eu … 3&cp=1
from advice of a person on this site awhile back as it has taken time to get here from china. so my real question is the wiring of the stepper motor as the new one has the red black in different places. here's a picture to see them both side by side.http://soliforum.com/i/?Q5f21Qa.jpg   what happens if they are wrong will it fry my stepper control chip and so how can i use the multimeter to be sure they are correct as ive never used it but i bought one today. thanks anyone who helps tackle this huge problem for me.

A stepper motor is just two coils, so letting A, B, C, D represent the 4 wires:

A - coil - B

and

C - coil - D

As a result you can connect the wires in any pattern you like, it is impossible to damage or short the stepper driver.
