Topic: Ruined my thermistor??
The stock software told me to clean my printing head today, I have had the printer for 4 days, pretty much printing 24/7 since I got it.
While cleaning the head, I thought the thermister was a bit of white filament that was stuck to the side of the head, and I tried brushing it off.
When that didn't work, like an idiot I took a razor blade to it! I was successful in removing all of the high temp silicone. When the wires themselves would not cut, I stopped myself. Google taught me what the "thermist0r" is.
The wires running into the head are still in tact, but I cut the sheething over one of them, and bare wire is showing. Also, there is no silicone holding them on.
Since then, when I print something the printer reports correct temperatures as requested in the G-code or as programmed into the cartridge.
However the prints themselves are extremely brittle, and the strings pull off layer by layer.
It is obvious to me that I am not getting the temperatures that I need to properly melt the ABS, despite what the thermister is reporting.
Is there a chance that this thing will still work if I can replace the plastic sheething over the broken wire?
