Topic: Brand New AiO - OSX xyzware DOA on 10.11.1

Received a brand new AiO for Christmas.  After repairing multiple problems.   Jammed Belt Wheel, Disconnected Digital Cable, ... I was able to get the unit to past it own startup (POST).  So on to trying the xyzware with it.  I'm attempting to use the latest? 2.0.2.  With OS X 10.11.1.  When the USB cable it connected to the printer and the printer is powered on the xyzware software crashes.  It I restart the xyzware software after the printer is already powered on.  It crashes.  So pretty much the only way I can keep the software running it so not connect the printer.

Others seeing these issues?  I guess I will move the printer to my basement so I can use it with windows.  sad

I never connect by usb these days and print from a wireless sd card only.
Another option is an sd adapter cable.

Re: Brand New AiO - OSX xyzware DOA on 10.11.1

Yep - exact same issue - got it for xmas - though I guess I was lucky since I had no other unboxing issues whatsoever - actually a complete/finished product out of the box - but when used with a mac and os 10.11.anything it crashes if usb plugged in - also - even with a windows machine with windows 8 or running parallels windows virtual machine and windows 8.1, the scanning software NEVER works - I get a scan but when I go to save the scan or finish the scan in any way past the actual multiple scans or erasing any defects etc, it crashes -- I've even skipped everything past the initial crappy scan and it still crashes - just won't save the point cloud.

I've actually moved past using the xyzware software and have used other free things out there but have decided to pay and get simply3d and it is AWESOME!!! simple to install and does EVERYTHING -- but now I am looking at a substitute for the scanning piece of things - If I am able to replace the scanning software side of things, I will be SET!

So if anyone knows of any replacement/substitute scanning software to drive the scanning portion of the AiO PLEASE let me know -- All we can hope is that XYZ gets their act together and updates the software for all of us that invested in their machine and have been willing to give them their extra profit on the cartridges etc as a subsidy on the inexpensive but 'finished' hardware -- but they need to invest in the software portion of things so it just works - nothing fancy - but just works!

If someone writes a scanning software -- or better yet, gets simply3d to add a scanning add-on -- I think lots of people would be willing to pay for it -- I know I would as then my AiO becomes a GREAT little machine for the price!

Thanks for the confirmation.  I have xyzware working under windows 7 pretty well for printing.

Thanks!  I didn't know that it was possible to use 3rd party software to drive the printer.  I will check this out.  As I would prefer to use with OS X with my kids if possible.

Completely Agree.  I spent about 3-4 hours now trying to get xyzscan to actually work and not crash.  Attempted with both windows 7 (and OS X...mostly windows since the OS X software seems horrible.)  I failed.  So until we can find an alternative or we get an update.  I could AiO's scanning capability a marketing smoke and mirrors job.

I encourage everyone that is running into issues around scanning with AiO to open support tickets.  Maybe that will encourage them to update the software so it actually works.

My bad -- autocorrect must think simply3D is better somehow than what I wrote which is Simplify3D which is the name of the program.  You gotta pay but as I said, it does EVERYTHING.

By the way - I don't work for them or am I invested in any way smile - just someone who tried to find and a solution to his problem and was willing to pay for something that looked to be the relatively best thing and simple to use for his needs.

Agree about opening support tickets - actually tried three times before it actually 'took' on their page.

Good luck (to all of us)

Re: Brand New AiO - OSX xyzware DOA on 10.11.1

I ran into the same problem with the AIO I bought yesterday off Craigslist. I can't file a help desk ticket 'cus it's out of warranty. You all who have warranty units need to file trouble tickets.  I got a Jr. For Christmas but it arrived broken. So I took it back and bought this one. It did however connect to the Mac without an issue.

Let me get this straight Simplify3d works without making any changes to the printer firmware?

Yes, it's basically just another slicer program which generates gcode from stl files.
Although it can be used to control a printer such as jog and preheat but it doesn't interfere with the firmware and will work with stock firmware.

Here is the response I got from tech support on the XYZ ware issue. I took the plunge and bought Simplify3d. This does not address the Scanner though.

"Please be informed that our latest XYZware version is compatible to MAC OS 10.8 to 10.10.

Our engineering team is continuously working on it to improve our product for us to be able to provide good service and satisfaction to our customers.

Software for MAC OS 10.11 will be released on March 2016."
