Topic: Upgrade a 1.0 to a 2.0 Duo?

Just thinking about this, I think its possible to do.

The printer is physically the same as far as the case and framing; the 1.0 has the same frame as the 2.0 does, only difference is the dual head, slightly wider bed, firmware, and a little bit of wiring.

My only question is: Are the motherboards the same but with different firmware or are they actually different?

Any thoughts on this?

well yes and no.
they are the same board but the 1.0 does not have the hardware installed to control the extruder. so unless you have a way of soldering in all the missing electronics (which it being surface mount is not easy).  it would be easier to put in a ramps 1.4 or Rambo board.
