Firmware 1.1.6 and Print Cartridges not recognized

Anybody else with subject problem.  I have Da Vinci 1.0 AIO.  Been out of the box about a month.  Learning all its foibles but this one has stopped me in my tracks.  XYZ support acts as if this is the first time they've heard of the problem.
Upgraded to Firmware 1.1.6.  Received some new PLA Cartridge.  Got the "Print Cartridge not recognized" at the XYZware point of printing after slicing.  Earlier PLA Cartridge prints fine.  New ABS Cartridge produces same error.  Run out of any filament that would print at this point.  Have three unusable cartridges.
Waiting on XYZ to respond with a fix.  I think the Firmware is out of sync with product in the sales chain.  They need to recall all product with BarCodes that won't work.
Would not like to have to invest in XYZeroCart and not sure it will work with new 1.1.6 firmware?
Any suggestions.
