Topic: W10 upgrade w/ old SD2...

Have an SD2 with the Sanguinololu board, running RH/Slic3r.  Considering pushing the button to let the system that runs it upgrade from it's current Win-7 to Win10.

Anyone tried it and have any issues to report?

I've also upgraded a Surface Pro but that was just 8.1 to 10 and not tied to the machine, and building a new W10 gaming machine as well.  So if you have an opinion about W10...that's not really what I'm after, no insult intended (I confess to mixed feelings about some of it myself, just so you don't think I'm a Koolaid drinker here wink ).  Just  want to whether I can remain functional printing without too much downtime.  In the past I've never trusted OS updates, always did a full-burn-of-the-field before replanting sort of thing.

I'm running an SD2 with Win 10 - no changes - latest version of RH, seems pretty reliable, moreso than the Mac and the Win 8.1.  I  use mostly the 8.1 version because of convenience, and experience periodic problems, but 10 seems to run better on my machine.  I also use Win 7 on the laptop.
You still have the option of reverting to whatever OS you upgraded from to get to 10 - give it a try.

I personally have not done it, but have seen many reports elsewhere of problems connecting to printers and getting things to work correctly after upgrading.

Win 7 works just fine for me, I think I will be holding off on upgrading for a while.

YMMV

If you enjoy becoming a Microsoft ID, go ahead and do it.

If on the other hand you still value your privacy....

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...

I'm aware.  Can we get past the editorials and just inform me if you've experienced actual difficulties after upgrading, related to 3D printing, which is the subject of both this forum and this particular category on the forum?

Not sure about the SD series but many have reported no longer being able to connect to their XYZ printers after upgrading to win10. I also had issues with it when I tried to use my CT'c dual head as well. I went back to my tablet running win8.1 as it seems to work with that and Repetier host with no issues. So your mileage may very, but as said you have a month to revert the system back to what it was and how it was from the original upgrade date. So try it, if it does not work you can easily switch back.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
