Topic: XYZ 1.0A Belt Break
I had a belt break during a print, results not good. Is there a option for after market replacement belt ? Is this a common problem? Or do I need to contact XYZ to order?

well there are a few things you can do.
you can order a t2 timing belt just get the number off the broken belt.
if you do it right you can even make one for the x or y carriages by buying t2 timing belt and then fastening the loose ends to the carriages.
Which belt broke? gt2 belts work great for y axis's but x axis will need some sort of clip
It is the small belt "Y" axis. Unfortunately, I trashed the belt ,therefore I cannot verify belt size. If you have belt size available, could you please forward to me? XYZ stated it will be 2-3 days before they could get back to me on replacement. Thanks for the help.
Not that I am attacking the OP, I am not. I am just curious how people break or even wear belts. I had a printer for a while that ran daily for 5 years and never broke or belt or even showed any wear on them. Could be be over tightening them or am I missing something here?
I believe its a 20 tooth gear with 3mm to 6mm width (you need to measure the other y belt width) doesn't matter what length it is, you can cut the new belt

If you cut it, how do you rejoin it into the small 3 inch loop needed to link the motor gear to the rear y drive gear?

As for measuring just a piece of string in place of the belt. Loop around and mark where joins then remove, tape at joint and measure.
carriage belts you can fix to the carriage so it doesn't have to closed loop as the fixing it to the carriage closes the loop and you don't ever drag your carriage through the gears or idler. The y transfer belt you need to buy as the correct sized loop belt ,as it will loop through multiple times so any thing you used to close the loop will have to go through the gears and any idlers.
I can look at my small y drive belt and give you the number once mine is done printing.
If you would supply me with belt size that would be very much appreciated. My plan is to outsource replacement belt myself. XYZ customer support is rather slow. Thanks again.
the number on the belt is 132-S2M
you can prolly get it here

Thanks Mark for the help. Any ideas of what would cause premature failure of belt?
no idea. Are you crashing the carriage?
Could be too tight, pulleys misaligned, or could have just been a cheap belt.
No,on crash. All components factory installed. I will lean toward belt quality.
