Topic: Davinci 1.0a initial connection to S3D

I have a davinci 1.0A, and when the machine is first turned on and connected to S3D, it gives me a cartridge error and sending prints is unsuccessfull.  When i turn on the computer and printer, if I open XYZware first and verify a connection to the printer, then turn on S3D, everything works great.   At that point, i can even put the computer into sleep mode and resume it and everything still works.   I think it all has to do with initialization of the printer.

Are you already connected to S3D when it gives you an error or when you are trying to connect? With mine I have to open S3D first then connect to the printer if I do it vise versa it won't connect.

I can get it to connect both ways, but the printer acts as if nothing has happened when S3D says it's sending the print unless I go through these steps:

1) Connect printer
2) Open XYZware (can be open before connecting printer)
3) Verify connection by going to "about" page (Don't need to do this step, as it's always connected)
4) Close XYZware
5) Open S3D, printer automatically connects with no errors
6) print, works every time

If I don't go through the XYZware step, the first message after printer connection in S3D is "cartridge error".  Other than that, S3D acts normal, and acts as if the print has been sent, but the printer never receives it.

On another side note.. I've only ever been able to try one computer, my laptop, with S3D.  When trying to open S3D on my desktop computer, the program crashes, and every other time will do a dark blue screen crash.  I contacted support, but they weren't able to help. 

After sending them the error report logs, they actually told me to remove a vital windows system file (ntdll.dll) to try and see if it would work after removal.   I sure hope they were taking a guess at a fix, because a windows computer will not start without that file.  After that, i gave up with trying on that computer, because they didn't seem to have any helpful ideas.
