Topic: Support Removal

I just saw this video and was blown away:

Is there any way of getting a smooth underside like this without shelling out the money for a simplify3d license? I would really like to be able to use this feature, but without some kind of trial I don't want to spend that kind of money.

Re: Support Removal

Slic3r has an interface setting also. but note this was done with a fair sized print with squared surfaces also.

my tiny high detailed prints would not be able to pry that hard on without ruining the prints and still require tedious post clean up with several tools still. but a few other prints could use this feature. just have to tweak it to get desired results. same as printing movable parts in 1 print then cracking them loose to function needs lots of tweaking with each filament used fo close tolerances yet not permanently sticking together. these are issues powder type 3D printers eliminate but at a cost as well.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

Re: Support Removal

also it only works on bottom support sections not mid print supports which most my prints have also.

Re: Support Removal

I gave S3D my $150 over a year ago and have not once regretted it.

I'll second Evans statement, lol
I'm only new to S3D and 3D printing, but I haven't regretted buying the software at all. The print quality and support structures are awesome and very easy to remove.

Re: Support Removal

Are you guys using Simplify3D with repetier flashed printers or stock XYZ firmware? I bit the bullet and paid for a license, but I can't connect my flashed 1.0A (Yes, I checked the port and baud). When I configured it when installing I chose the davinci 1.0 from the list, but realized I probably should have picked a repetier associated printer. Has anyone had a similar issue?

You need to change it to a Repetier based printer. Da Vinci in stock form uses a different comm protocol from what it does once you flash it.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
Anycubic 4MAX best $225 ever invested.
Voxelabs Proxima SLA. 6 inch 2k Mono LCD.
Anycubic Predator, massive Delta machine. 450 x 370 print envelope.

Thanks for your reply! Is there a specific one that works best?

Re: Support Removal

I believe there is option for custom. Just use that one and enter the dimensions of the bed there. You will have to play with the numbers to get it centered as S3D includes the dump area in the dimensions.
