Topic: Eliminate gear noise cause by bended filament

Spool Holder, better ventilation, eliminate gear noise cause by bended filament.

The Press lid cause pressure on the filament and the gear start to making noise and grind the filament.

One solution that work perfect for me.

Now you got no more pressure on the extruder, gear stop grinding the filament and vent is much better.

Also you could use whatever spool you want.

Re: Eliminate gear noise cause by bended filament

Nice! I tried using this as well however this tends to cause adhesion issues for me since my press sits in an air conditioned room - so I have to close my lid.

However gear grinding has a lot more to do with your z-axis calibration than the spool holder. I have about 400 prints on my Press so far since I got it.

less than 20 of my total prints were before having to do full calibration in which I experienced a bunch of issues including stuck filament..etc

The rest have been post fan reversal and correct and very accurate z-axis calibration, as well as not printing on glass.
I haven't had a single problem with grinding since.

A good gauge of poor calibration values is switching between 0.3 layer height and 0.1 layer height. I found that if your z-axis calibration is about right, you can get away with printing 0.3mm, however when lowering to higher quality 0.1, you tend to get gear grinding - which is a good indicator that you should further tune your z-axis calib values
