Topic: Some issues, would appreciate some help. Glass bulge, wavy prints, etc
Bunch of issues I would love to get help with.
My glass wont level no matter how hard I try, its buldging in the middle and a little towards the middle rear. I guess its not a huge deal. I leveled off all 4 corners for printer paper to fit, but then the middle test wont fit the paper and also the middle rear, even though both rear corners would fit and front middle and corners fit too... I would have to make the first layer a little fatter and wider for large prints (so the edges don't peel up), but it does suck when the first layer gets squished too much in the middle, the next 2-3 layers also stick out wider than they should.
Also the 20mm calibration cube with 1 perimeter thickness ends up 19.5 x 19.9 x 19.6 tall. How do I fix that? It doesn't even matter what extrusion width I use, they all come out around the same, some even get to 19.4 or even 19.35... I accidentally left 2 top solid layers and it actually bridged it, I was impressed, hah.
Autocad created Parts come out too small too, I had to scale up to 1.07 to get a part to fit, but then my walls were not what I wanted them to be, instead of exactly 2mm or 3mm it of course ends up thicker... ![]()
1 side of my prints are wavy, especially easy to see on curves like circles...
I did manage to fix the overextrusion that the mainly stock settings in repetier and slic3r cause. My extrusion multiplier is around .9, but for smaller parts its sometimes a tiny bit too much, and larger parts too little...
What else, I guess there are always issues with these things. I did put 2 shims on the rear y axis rod, they were a very very tight fit, I may need to figure out how to get them out now and maybe print out a thinner set. .8mm is too thick, maybe .6 or .5mm would be better.
Also my x axis gear on the left side is quite squeaky now after a 4 hour print, can I just use some triflow or do I need to use grease or something?
In all honesty, stock xyz firmware/software did pretty good prints, I could not see an improvement with using repetier. Its actually a lot more work because now I need to actually figure out everything (like width, multiplier, 1st layer, this and that, etc,) to make sure it prints right, instead of designing and then letting xyzware make it pretty damn good right away...
Am I missing something? I'm running the latest repetier host with the slic3r that it comes with, maybe its a bad version, or maybe someone wants to share their settings that are good for almost any print down to .1 layers?
