Topic: Da Vinci 1.0a broken belt

So I had my printer for two days now, made about 8 prints with it.

When I was printing the nozzle started to move outside my printspace and it sounded wierd.

Checked the belts and than I saw that one of my belts was nearly off =/

It is marked: T132 s2m.

What does the numbers stand for?
Can I buy any belt with that numbers and it will work?

The s2m tells you it is 2mm the t132 I think is a type of timing belt it might have something to do with the total length that I don't know.

Re: Da Vinci 1.0a broken belt

Hm. So s2m is the pitch of the teeth, 132 is how long the belt is, and its 5mm wide, maby there is a place here in sweden that has it, I will check on monday. hope my warranty dont expire when I switch the belt.

Does anyone know if I can use a smaller belt?
The motor is adjustet to the lowest point (max tensioned), plus there is a tensionpart for the belt.

You could try a shorter belt but considering the photo maybe the old one just stretched.  if it were me I would get a couple of the original size  and maybe a couple shorter ones to try I would hate to see you buy shorter ones only to find they are too short.

Re: Da Vinci 1.0a broken belt

Thanx alot! I will check the link out, only hope they send to private persons.

I will order a couple of shorter and two sets of original and try the shorter out, I get back here when I have test them smile

The wheels that the belt is turning on, they are kind of big, 5mm is the timing belt size, but I think 6mm will fit so I will order some of them to.

Re: Da Vinci 1.0a broken belt

Hi - My 1.1a did the same thing - it seems that the belt used along with the tensioner (the original 1.0 DaVinci did not have this) creates too much stress and it fails.  I replaced mine with one of these - just search on ebay for GT2 132.  At the time, $2.39 each.  These have a more sturdy fiberglass core - the original belt was (IMHO) simply too weak to do the job.
