Re: getting frustrated

ok I tried 10, 50, 75, 100, and board 33. no difference. Im starting to wonder if its a problem with repetier itself since the temps keep rising to their target even if the reading are black. Its not throwing any errors in the log.

Re: getting frustrated

there is nothing wrong with your temp readings... it moves like that so that you can fully read it when the slider/indicator gets far enough over to the right ... it turns to black to make it easier to read on the lighter color background.... imagine trying to read white on a yellow background?....

again, there is nothing wrong with your temp readings... it is doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

Re: getting frustrated

if you are moving from the stock SD4 hotend to the E3d you probably never got it hot enough to see it do that before... LOL

I have seen other programs do similar things (not necessarily related to temperature), so it didnt really surprise me at all.

Re: getting frustrated

It looks to me like you might be printing too fast as well. Maybe consider slowing down to about half of what you are doing now. Unless your already down to 20's or less. Small objects like that really have to be printed slow to allow time for each layer to cool just enough before the next is applied.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

You'll have better results printing something that small with a GCode fan also.

our SD4 bed was warped so badly it was easy to see when we put the glass down on it...

alright!

I bought some of the Octave brand blue glow - fun stuff to work with... I dont know about the white/green glow, but the blue seems to like cooler temps than regular ABS

Re: getting frustrated

good to know. smile

Once you get everything dialed in, you will be pretty happy with the E3D. I think I have mine pretty well set now, maybe just a hair more tweaking of the vref - still getting just a tiny bit of moire, but barely noticeable (I notice it, anyway.. LOL)

I do have to say the clear green glow from hatchbox glows very strongly. Stay bright for a while too.

Re: getting frustrated

I honestly dont know for sure how long the blue glow lasts...

I was up at 2am the other night and there was still a faint glow from both the roll (in the storage box), and the couple of items that I had printed with it - and it was overcast and rainy the last couple of days, too, so not a lot of bright light hitting any of it.
At 2am it took me a minute to realize what I was looking at in the dark. LOL

Got a few strings sagging there but looks good. What speed are you bridging at?

Re: getting frustrated

Strings come with the territory wink   As long as they provide a solid base for the next layer it is easy to design around that first sacrificial layer.  It has been a very long time since I printed that but the bridge speed was 50mm/sec.
I actually ended up with several that looked a little better than that but that was the only picture that was handy.  It is funny how those first lines pull perfect and smooth.  Then as the layers stack up a few lines on the bottom start to warp out of the way.   Bridging is a great way to learn a lot about your printer and it's capabilities along with an intimate knowledge of your slicer profiles.
Have fun with it, it's been a couple of years since a good bridge shootout here on the forum.
