Topic: Extruder clicking

I have a da Vinci 1.0 AIO. I have had this printer for a little while, and about two weeks ago the printer stop extruding filament and started clicking. I stopped the print and re-fed the filament. Over the last two weeks this is been happening more and more, now so much that I can't even finish one print before it stops extruding filament. If anyone knows how to fix this problem the information would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark Lynch

Have you taken the extruder apart and cleaned the gear area? They grt gummed up with filament debris over time and start slipping. There are videos on youtube that show how to do it. It could also be a loose connection causing you yo loose heater power. Just keep an eye on the temp to confirm that.

Thr other cause is your bed is too close to the nozzle.

I'll take the extruder apart and clean gears and get back to you. Also i'm pretty sure that the bed is not too close to the extruder, but I'm not sure on the temp. What is the best way to keep check on the temperature?

Watch the LCD during a print?  I believe it shows the temp while printing. I have flashed mine and it was months ago so I cant remember if stock dhows the temp or not. I believe the software also tracks it as well but can't remember on that either since I no longet use XYZware either.

Re: Extruder clicking

I cleaned the gears and started a print, but the temperature is not shown on the LCD of the printer. I did however find the temperature on the software.

Edit: It just stopped extruding again, so I'm going to try cleaning the nozzle for the 5th time

Where you able to catch the temp of the extruder when it started clicking?

Re: Extruder clicking

Sadly I wasn't able to catch the temperature, it was working fine until I walked away from the printer to grab a plate to eat. When I came back it was clicking and I stopped it immediately.

Re: Extruder clicking

I did however notice that the extruder is not heating to 230°C like it's supposed to. It's only heating to 200°C

That could be the issue, it may not be getting hot enough for ABS.. As to why, not sure. Could be a bad thermistor not reading correctly, or a bad heater not heating correctly. No easy way to find out.

Re: Extruder clicking

Alright, I'll check into those and see if they could be the problem. Oh! And thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it!
