Topic: How to mod my DaVinci 1.0 to accept 3rd party filament?
Should I just buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/XYZ-printing-da … 0443953143
And then install my own filament in the cartridge?

Yes you can use that or go to wctek. I'm not sure about the 1.0a but I believe you will also need to block XYZexe. And after that you can just print a spool holder and run your own filament, most third party spools will not fit into the cartridge.
I'm using the xyz reset tool and changing the temps to match in simplify3d. You can see how I hung the spools in the build area thread. Bike hooks and PVC. I snaked some tube through the lid, didn't drill any holes
It has worked with ABS and polystyrene just fine. The PETG is mixed results and I honestly haven't experimented with it enough. I'm trying PLA tonight and so far so good, but the recommended bed temp and extruder temp aren't close. 200 seems close for the extruder but its clumping up , but the bed doesn't seem to be sticking as well as ABS at 65.
The inland flexible filmanet jams almost instantly. I haven't tried the extruder extension yet. I picked up a pico hot end, but the length is so far off that I don't think you can adapt it and leave the stock firmware.

For PLA try bare clean glass at 90 and make sure the bed is level and calibrated to .15mm.
what extruder temp have you been using?
I had to slow the speeds down for ABS and I just bumped them back up to the defaults and it seems to be doing much better.

Like ABS it depends on brand and color. 190 to 210 for natural and 220 to 230 for colors.
185 worked. anything higher would cause the extruder to skip after 15 minutes. i sent a large part to it now. im half expecting a big mess when its done in 6 hours
