Topic: 2nd Extruder as backup ?

So I've finally got my Davinci Duo running well, prints are coming out nice, things are getting finished, and a stack of cartridges is piling up next to the printer with small amounts of filament left in them..

My question is, if I load 2 white cartridges with 11m of filament on each into this, will the second extruder pickup where the first one leaves off on a 20m build ?

No, the second extruder is for dual color. It will be used when you have an stl that specified a color change at some point. If cart one runs out you will get a notice and the machine will stop. Actually the machine tracks what it thinks is in the cart and wont let you print something that requires more.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

That's what I was afraid of... was just hoping I was missing something that would let the 2nd extruder kick in to finish the job if the 1st cartridge ran out and it would let me finish off some of these cartridges.
