Topic: Extruder getting lost

Do you guys know what could cause this kind of problem? Sometimes the extruder goes out the layer and continue to print at other part of object. I'm using a third part filament that I've put at an empty cartridge. Maybe a wrong fill?

Its probably the xyz slicer. Does it do it with other prints or just that one?

Re: Extruder getting lost

Yesterday I started to use Simplify 3D. I could print some other parts, but this one failed twice. But knowing that could be a slice problem, it's a good start...

Its called layer shifting and if you have REP .092 theres a support group over at voltivo.com

Thanks I didn't know this term. I'm looking for some infos here and I'll make some tests with belt or try another filament. I'm using the stock firmware.

if something is causing the stepper motor to bind its called a jog.  since there is no encoder on the steppers the machine always assumes it knows where it is.  can you here it binding?  does it do it if you move the print another part of the table?

I think I read somewhere that the pulleys not being secured to the axes can be a problem with shifting layers, and that tightening them might help. Worth a try?
