Topic: Soliprint printing blobs of plastic

I'm at my wits end. For some reason every single STL I've brought into Soliprint it keeps sending the extruder to the corner or side and printing a tiny blob of plastic. I believe it has something to do with scaling, but if I change the scale it does nothing. I've used these exact same files on different printers with no issues. The only files it seems able to print are the 25mm calibration cube and the calibration angle off of thingiverse. Otherwise, no dice. This may be a simple fix, but I've been unable to find anything despite all my searches. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Soliprint printing blobs of plastic

How do you print the calibration cube? Do you change any way that you run the host software, or slice the gcode, when you do the other files?

How big does the calibration cube look in your host software? Does it come out the right size?

How big do your other prints look in your host software? Are they looking the right size before you print them? What makes you think it's a scaling issue?

Just some troubleshooting questions that come to mind.

Thanks for the reply

Calibration cube is directly downloaded from Thingiverse and I just drag it into Soliprint. If I try to "load it" Soliprint crashes. Settings are all at default for all slicing. I took the original PLY and converted to STL again in Meshmixer after trying to print the original STL's... still no dice.

Calibration cube measurements are fine all around. Print is fine (well, for the Press)

Every time I've loaded them they appear with proper measurement. When I print, it probes the entire bed and then prints a tiny skirt before printing the in the center of the skirt and moving cm at a time. The result is a blob of plastic. If I scale the print to look larger, it does the same thing.

I'm not exactly a noob at this stuff, but Soliprint is absolutely terrible. I tried to use Rep, but since I'm on a Mac the press profile isn't present. Tried to add the G29 start code, but it still prints over the bed.

Using Repetier Host is your best bet. You need to configure more settings than simply adding G29 though, including removing whatever the slicer tries to do on startup.

I collected the settings, and other things I tried, in my blog post: http://paulsaulnier.com/2015/03/16/gett … dle-press/
