Topic: Help Fan Wiring

Hey guys i got a soliddoodle 2 i got a fan and i printed the fan shroud i found in the Fan Installation Tread. i was wondering the best/easiest way to wire the fan. is there a way to wire it to the board on my printer and control it with Repetier Host? or should i just get a 12v power supply off something and hook my fan up with a switch.

Re: Help Fan Wiring

Yes, it is possible to get a g-code controlled fan working on your printer, but you'll need to:
* Connect the fan to the mainboard
* Update the firmware to enable the fan, and to use the correct pin

This all depends on which board you have: Is it a sang or a solidoodle printrboard?

Otherwise, just connect it in parallel with the LED strip (this is 12V), and use a switch to control it.

Re: Help Fan Wiring

Sweet thanks! I'm just gonna wire it up with switch to make it easy. I saw someone put their switch into the metal case but I wasn't sure about doing that because I need to take my case off to print in PLA but I suppose the fan should eliminate the need to do that.
