Re: Big issue

look like you're printing iron helm?

Re: Big issue

Yeah the top part just went to noodle for no reason it prints perfect then for some reason just throws it all off

Re: Big issue

All the bit what looks like spaghetti is ment to be like the rest of it

Re: Big issue

Looks like your print shifted midprint..

Re: Big issue

I have found if the first layer of the supports dont stick it can go haywire, only solution I have found to get good prints when using supports is to use a raft.

7

Re: Big issue

How would it shift mid-print? Never had in issue before? and it was stuck really good to the bed

Re: Big issue

Please could I have some advice asap my printer is at a standstill and have a back log of projects thanks

Re: Big issue

The only time I had something like this occur is when the print suddenly broke free from my bed about 3/4 of the way through and was pushed all over the place by the extruder.

Maybe there was a power surge and the print file was corrupted during the print? My machine is extremely sensitive to static electricity though it has yet to affect a print in progress.

Re: Big issue

This can happen if the filament gets hung up and causes the head to bind and skip a step or two. There could also have been a high spot in the print from over extrusion that caused the head to bind.

The stl could also be bad. Has it been printed before?

Look at the model carfully on the last proper layer and see if you can see any signs where the head may have hit or got stuck.

Re: Big issue

My Da Vinci did this when I had Repetier .92 installed.  For whatever reasons the stepper motors run too hot and started skipping/losing steps.  I even tried slowing down the print/acceleration/jerk speed.  Eventually I gave up and went back to the stock 1.0.3 firmware.

Re: Big issue

I'm running the stock software and down graded it to J version and it looks as if your right and the tension on the filament jammed it for a moment and threw it off. Just ran a new spool holder which im going to try. The one I was using was holding the reel on the side wall and was like stood on it the new one goes through the middle and hangs on the outside so will try that see if that stops it snagging up I thjnk

Re: Big issue

And the model didn't break away from the the bed as I had to use my scrapper and quite some force to get it off im going to manually re calibrate and then re run using new spool holder. Never had this issue before

Re: Big issue

I have had this happen several times. It is just where one, or more, of the axsis get hung up on something and then when it breaks free it doesn't know where it is at in regard to the rest of the model. If you google it, it is a fairly common F up in the 3d printer community lol.

Re: Big issue

I am thinking that it could be the filament catching. I have had this happen to me before and I think it was caused by the filament and not the model. I printed the same model later and it printed fine. I have my filament mounted on the side and noticed that it rubs on the back and will sometimes make a squeaking sound as it pulls in the filament. I think that is causing the filament to get hung up. I am going to try and print a new holder.

Re: Big issue

Yeah I printed one what hooks on to the side there the holes are. It is a lot better but could do with designing some guides for the filament

Re: Big issue

Where my printer is there is shelf above it at about 12 inches. I just made a spool holder that uses skate bearings and sets on that shelf. I then drilled a hole about 3/4 inches wide in the middle of the top door to feed the filament through. Works out very well.

Re: Big issue

Well just get it right and my heated nozzle blows brilliant.... will be ordering a E3D V6 nozzle tomorrow

Re: Big issue

I have a pretty new printer with about two weeks worth of printing on it (1.0a flavor) and it starting shifting prints like this and after much testing it turns out that the wires plugging into the stepper motor on the side were rubbing back and forth on the plastic wall near the hand hold, and as those wires at the plug (for the motor and end stop sensor) wiggle back and forth it would cause my prints to randomly shift.  I tried swapping the wiring harness between the X and Y steppers to test this and got the same random shifting on the same motor.  So I think it's the plug on the stepper motor that is loosing connection as it wiggles rather than the harness.  I removed the plastic wall on that side and pushed that side up against the wall so it's not wide open, but nothing there for those wires to rub against and haven't had any issues since.

Eventually I'll probably replace that motor with one that doesn't have this type of connector, or maybe just open it up and solder the wiring harness into it.

Hope this helps!

J.

Re: Big issue

I haven't had a problem since really going to upgrade the motor eventually after I have put my E3D V6 nozzle in and got that running

Re: Big issue

If you replaced that motor that would have solved this issue too, because I think the trouble is with a bad connection at the plug on the motor.
