Topic: Can I clean out the tube?

So I tried using powder pigment 0/10 would recommend, the inside of the filastruder is coated with it and even with running it for a couple hours I still get the hue of the powder. Is there anything I can run through the filastruder to clean it out besides just more filament?

Re: Can I clean out the tube?

it took me 8 hours to switch from abs to pla...

but i saw a thread here of someone burning the nozzle out but that takes time and you have to flush out the burn residue as well

Re: Can I clean out the tube?

Hi,

I have used Asaclean pellets to purge the barrel when switching to a different resin and when cleaning out residual powder pigment. With the nozzle on and the nozzle temperature 185 to 190 degrees I dump in 25 to 30 grams of Asaclean pellets.
I then wait until clean Asaclean is extruding out of the nozzle. While it is still hot and the screw is still turning I quickly unscrew the nozzle and let the rest of the Asaclean purge out of the barrel. The barrel and screw come out looking brand new with no residues. Even the nozzle and filter screen come out really clean as the Asaclean pulls off the nozzle/screen very easily in one piece.

You can buy 4 pounds of Asaclean pellets on eBay for $15.00 with free shipping. Using this amount each time you should get at least 60 clean outs with the 4 pounds.

Re: Can I clean out the tube?

Hi,

I have used it when switching between Acetal and ABS but I believe it is compatiblle with a wide range of different resins.

Here is a reference to PLA:
