Topic: warping/splitting... beginner needs help

Okay,
I've battled my way through the a poor Y limit switch, and sailed the wretched seas of getting a print to stick to the base, using elmers purple glue sticks, but now... now is the hardest challenge...

My print started cracking and splitting like this:

Any ideas?

230 (i think) extruder temp
110 Bed temp.

Also, the press is so SLLLOOOOOWWWWW. Can I turn it up a bit? is that done in the Slic#r settings?

Make sure the filament on the spool isn't getting caught. Also, you might need to increase the feed rate Slightly.  Is that using the stock filament from solidoodle ?

everything is stock. All my settings are default in soliprint, and nothing has been additionally modified.

How do I increase feedrate?

Re: warping/splitting... beginner needs help

I'm not sure with the soliprint software.  Even though there has been some disagreement about it being the correct way to do things, I found increasing the extrusion multiplier by about 5% (from .8 to .85) in Repetier host helped fix a very similar issue to what you are seeing there.
I still find that the filament coming off the spool will sometimes stick a little which appears to lift up the print head a fraction of a mm (but may be as much a .2mm), causing the layers to not bind as they should.  I've spent hours watching the printer print to find this second issue and I'm not sure how to fix it other then add another motor that will detect tension in the filament and feed some through.
Also, if you're wanting to play with the speeds, RH is easy to configure with this. I set the infill speed a lot higher and it helps a lot, but my house is slowly filling up with 2cm test cubes. :-)
