Topic: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

I get the "thumping". The screw was loose. Fixed it and it "worked" for a while. Thumping back again. IT seems that the hotend is not aligned with the rest of the construction. It seems that the filament misses the whole that should send it into the hotend. Anyone have a clue how to fix that? It seems very loose and I guess it should be.

Make sure that the middle of the part of the extruder wheel that the filament goes in is in line with the middle of the hole in the hot end.

Re: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

Everything looks fine. I have done the trim pot fix. Tightened the screw.

If I help and push the filament it works better. Could it be a broken wire on the wire connector for the motor? It seems strange that it should behave like this if the wire was broken.

What temp is your extruder at? I usually bump mines to 240c when putting in new filament then lower it to 239 once it gets flowing. Try forcing the filament by hand also.

Now I tested with 250 C. If forcing it gets better but as soon as I stop that it gets back to being bad.

Here is a video of it: youtube.com/watch?v=DWbWW_eviqQ

250 too high have you increased your trimpot?

I have the same issue as you, i'm trying to adjust the timpot, but not sure how to measure the voltages

Re: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

I had this problem for a while. I ended up taking off the front heat sink when the printer was cold, cleaning between the two heat sink plates and the extruder, and then putting it all back together. As I put it back together, before I had the thumbscrews all the way tight, I wiggled the hot end a little bit and it seemed to seat better. Then I finished tightening everything up again and I haven't had that problem since.

Re: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

I have set the trimpots to the correct values. The thing is that it worked at 215 Celsius from the beginning. Now I am just trying higher temperatures to see if it works.

Re: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

Checked the cable seems fine. Used the Z-cable. Still the same problem. Set the extruder trim pot to 1.6 V. Raised the temp to 265 C. It became a little bit better.

Tried to push the filament through only the extruder while it was on. It was kind of really hard to do it. Nearly impossible. I am starting to think that the temp. sensor shows wrong temperature.

Re: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

Hey Otto, i fixed mine last night, my extruder was jammed with some filament inside. Get a needle and clean it out.

Re: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

I have cleaned it several times. Now I have burnt it out and dumped it in aceton over night. I will try it again after work.

Re: Extruder stalling, hotend in wrong position?

I adjusted trim pot E to around 1,1V. Now it seems much better. Not good but filament comes out even if it is wavy.

Trying to print with 230/90 C.
