Topic: Need help printer head hitting the metal frame work at back of machine

Hi I've got the de Vinci xyz 1.0a everything was fine for about 2 months I couldn't fault the machine it was perfect but I noticed my prints weren't sticking to the bed. So thought I run a calibration. Big mistake now every time I switch on the Machine the printer head keeps hitting the frame at the back of the machine see pic. Plus now it seems to be resetting it selfhttp://soliforum.com/i/?uRQEh2n.jpg

Hmm. Mine hits there if I pause it.  When I resume the print it proceeds to ram into the frame there.

Have you figured out the problem? I just got a new extruder replacement and I am having the same problem. It thinks the bed is further over to the left. When it tries to calibrate, it hits the metal frame and then everything is off. I can figure out what is causing is to be messed up.

Have you tried physically putting the head in the correct spot before powering?  There is no timing or anything in this machine you can mess up by moving the head.

Position is determined by relative steps from home found at power up when the home sensors are tripped.

Yes, I have tried to put it in the home location. When I power on, it doesn't move, but then when I do the calibrate, then it moves forward a little and tries to move left and runs into the metal. You hear the gears grind for a couple seconds and then it will try and calibrate. When it tries to calibrate, the head is to the left of the metal corners.

One or more of your home sensors is not working then. The machine does not know where home is and is just moving. Unfortunatly XYZware and Da Vinci firmware gives you no way of testing or confirming their function. There is not even a status light to show if they are triggered or not. My guess is the Y axis is the one that is bad since X seems to move normal it just cant since Y never moved out. You could take the Z axis sensor and Y axis sensor out of their mounts and swap them. Just to narrow things down.

Could also be an issue with the Y axis motor or its wiring. Unlikely though since it's wites dont move like the X does.
