Topic: DaVinci 1.0 potential

I herd some say that the DaVinci printer has the potential to be equal to the much more expensive printers. I had success printing many parts using stock software but still nothing like what I see coming out of say makerbot, I have to clean up the parts using a dremel and sand paper.

What I want to know is just how much potential does DaVinci? What modifications does one need to make in order to print with fine detail similar to makerbot?

Flash the firmware to Repetier then use Simplify3d. Or go further as I did and take out the stock controller, install a RAMPS 1.4 and load it with Marlin. The use Simplify 3d or Cura or even RH.

The biggest issue is the stock software and firmware.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
Anycubic 4MAX best $225 ever invested.
Voxelabs Proxima SLA. 6 inch 2k Mono LCD.
Anycubic Predator, massive Delta machine. 450 x 370 print envelope.

do you have any pictures of the results? I am curious to see just how much better it'll print once all this is done.

Also keep in mind that the makerbot only prints PLA which is easier to print with and always gives better results than ABS at the cost of strength and durability.  The Da Vinci only prints ABS but can print PLA with some mods.
