Topic: Most up to date firmware

Can anyone tell me what the most up to date versions are for the software and firmware are please?

I am trying to get tech support, but they want me to update and confirm what the newest numbers are.   I don't want to update though.

Depends on the printer.  For the 1.0A I thought it was 1.0.6 but I am not 100% sure.  That is the latest one I know of for the 1.0A.

You may have a tough time getting this info. The majority of users here have picked up on XYZ's tactics. They dont upgrade so they can use resetters, or they have flashed to Repetier firmware and done away with XYZ all together. I only recall one regular poster here saying he was pure stock and upgraded any time an update was pushed.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

What's the reason you need tech support ?  Maybe someone here can help.

Re: Most up to date firmware

According to the download section of the website, XYZware version 1.1.36.16 (windows) was released last month and is the most recent. Not sure on the firmware, but I know 1.2.6 (1.0) was released a couple months ago and very well could be the current. You could always be like: "Can you walk me through finding the firmware version? What should it say when I get to the correct screen?" could possibly work if they aren't trying to screw you out of the warranty

Re: Most up to date firmware

I'm a pure stock...but do not hold that against me. My model is a 1.0A

XYZware is at 1.1.36.16
Firmware is at 1.0.6

Firmware is as per the displayed firmware on the LCD from the DaVinci 1.0A, also from the XYZware, and the XYZware is from the software.

Both when I go to update state the following :-

"Already up to the latest Version"

So I hope that helps you.

Cheers
Greg.

Just curious Greg, but do you use a resetter of some kind?

Hey mpoffo,

I myself see no use to use one, as I use the original cartridges from XYZ.

I fully understand why most people are using them, and re-flashing their firmware EPROM, to run other splicers.

But I have had little trouble, touch wood, and the cost savings are so very little.

To be very honest with you, I'm so very new to 3D printing, that I need to get a personal and complete understanding of how it all works before I start hacking something that works so well straight out of the box!

Cheers
Greg.

Can't agree with that.
You can get filament for at least a quarter of the price of the XYZ stuff and it's better quality too.
Bear in mind, an XYZ cartridge only contains 600g whereas most spools are 1kg.

I started using one awhile ago.  The carts art convenient, that is for sure.  Using third party though can greatly expand your options and in the long run is more economical.

The primary reason why I ask is that I also have a 1.0A and use a product from WCTek that works very well.  I was wondering if the newer software changed that.

Hey mpoffo,

I'm happy to compare notes on this printer. After I get a good understanding on it's hardware and software operations, I may start to experiment.

I'm going to look into the WCTek product, and see what it needs in the way of mods to the 1.0A unit.

Cheers
Greg.
