Topic: TEMPERATURE DROPPING DA VINCI 1.0
Hi my Da Vinci 1.0 goes up to 212° starts print then temperature immediately drops and stepper motor starts clicking. Anyone have this issue? Just updated new firmware.

Replace the connector for the hotend above the extruder assembly. It is known to be bad. Simply cut it out and use wire nuts or other connectors of your choice. There is no polarity.
Hi thanks for the reply. These are not the same wires that initially heat up the extruder then?

Yes they are the same wires. They are white wires with a black connector on top of the extruder. The connector is know to be faulty.
Hi, so I guess my question would be why would it heat up in the first place if the connector was bad? Thanks

A poor connector or connection could still be adequate at a standstill, but then it reacts badly during any minor movement or vibration caused during printing.

As the unit heats the connector heats as well. Due to location and due to wire not being the proper size. Its not a dangerous heating but it gets hot enough to cause the plastic to distort under stress of movement and the pins they used only make contact on one side. So that contact is lost during movement.
Fair enough you nailed on the head! Thank you so much back up and running.
Just turn on your air conditioning where is the 3D printer

Do you own a Da Vinci? I am guessing no. A Da Vinci has an enclosed cabinrt to keep the inside warm so you get better results with ABS. So turning on the AC which is probably already on since it is summer would have no impact.
I have to ask what you think doing so would accomplish?
