Topic: Nozzle and bed temp

Hi guys
question for you guys that have had the machine longer then i have i noticed that the nozzle heats up first then the bed on my machine on the utube xyz video i just watched for bed leveling i saw that the bed and nozzle raise almost together a lot faster then mine which is normal ?
Also i just can't get my bed to level out i get it right on the side's but then the middle is way out the machine is pretty new just a few weeks old now thanks for any help.

Re: Nozzle and bed temp

The bed should take about ten minutes to reach temp and the nozzle should take about 5 or less. If you are not running stock firmware it is always best to heat the bed first then the nozzle. You dont want the nozzle to set at full temp with filament in it for more than a few minutes. This can make the filament inside harden and cause clogs and jams.

As for your bed it sounds like yours is like most and warped. The only thing you can do is go to a local glass shop and have them cut you a couple of 3mm thick pieces of tempered glass the same size as the stock glass. Once you get it loosen the screws enough to mount the new glass on top of the stock and tighten the clips back down. Adjust your z to account for the extra 3mm and you should be near level now. If not then one or both of your X rods are bent.

Re: Nozzle and bed temp

Carl Thanks for the reply
First off my machine is bone stock it's the way it came to me, the nozzle always heats up first to around 215-220 then cools to 212 as the bed heats up to 90 i do see the filament ozzing out of the nozzle while this is happening then the machine starts to print the machine printed fine for the first say 4 hr's then it had the clicking extruder so i did a bed cal it did not pass the xyz cal so i used the paper on the bed cal as outlined in the stickey it seam to work until today now i can't get a good print it just globs and sticks to the nozzle.
One more thing i did notice when i did a fliament unload the nozzle temp went down to about 135 and then it unloaded the filament i would have thought the temp would go to the print temp is this normall ?
i checked the machine for alignment of the rods it all looks fine i have not done a dial indicator on the bed to see if it is warped is it best to adjust the bed hot or cold ?

Thanks Again

In your post you mentioned adding another piece of glass to the bed then offsetting the z how can that be done in the Xyz software i don't see a setting for this.

Thanks

If you are using xyz then all you can do is hopefully get the bed adjusters to move down far enough.

Most users who did not flash their machines at the very least bought Simplyfy3d which allows them to do things like setting a z offset in the gcode and so much more. It does support  all xyz printers out of the box.
