Topic: Thingiverse

Does anybody monitor/moderate this site?  I usually go there periodically for ideas & stuff.  Seems as though some clown has tried to cover the place with crap in the form of useless stuff and torrents.....

Really need a mod or admin to clean it up

Re: Thingiverse

have you tried reporting stuff like that? as busy as that site is, I can see things being missed by admin...

just went and looked and see what you mean - what a mess... reported 3 different ones myself... on the last one I asked of any one was monitoring this stuff...

SD4 #1 & #2 - Lawsy carriages, E3D v6, Rumba controller board, mirror bed plate, X motor fan, upgraded PSU & Mica bed heater

Re: Thingiverse

Thingiverse might shrink in size by half if they had a rule that said "If you've never printed this, don't bother posting it."

They need such a rule really. Most of the stuff there is made by people that have no concept of 3D printing or it's limitations.

However I believe that Thingiverse is about anything 3D and not necessarily printable. So such a rule might go against their core purpose.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Looks like /r/3dprinting also caught this as it went down:

I think spam might be more useful than most Thingiverse content.

Well One would think that since Thiniverse is owned / run by makerbot arguably the first major and most influential 3d printing company it would be about 3d printing. But by its own admission it is about all things 3d
and they encourage any jack or jill on the street to upload 3d designs as seen from below quotes from the site.

Make
We need your brilliant designs. Get on a 3D modeling program and/or 3D scanner and start to create, construct, and innovate! Build something cool, useful, or just fun. Then upload the file to Thingiverse and tell us all about it.

How Can I Get Involved?
The best way to get involved with Thingiverse is to try your hand at 3D designing. Thingiverse isn't just of designers, engineers, or CAD drawing experts: anyone can learn.

All that being said There should be an accurate description of the  object like designs concept not tested. OR 3D printable  tested on 1) software @) machines  3)material  or cut on laser cutter or water jet whatever.
