Topic: press quit!

So my press quit printing tonight!  Here's what's happening:

Everything starts out fine, printer heats up, bed prob starts and complets, then nothing. Looking at the G code in the printer configuration screen, I get an error message and m999 to restart over and over and over.  The extruder motor will not do anything until I send m999.

I occasionally get a print to start, It will print for a few minutes then stop dead with the same error.

I've restarted the printer and computer. Reinstalled soliprint 1.2.2, even rolled back to 1.2.1, same results.

Help!

I told my parents I wanted to be a pilot when I grew up, they said I can't do both!

Try using other software (like repetier host) and see if it works.

Re: press quit!

Sounds like a temperature error.  Check your connections for the thermistor and cartridge heater wires.

Re: press quit!

I had that error when my wire came out of the glass dome on the end of the thermistor, a new thermistor fixed the problem.

Re: press quit!

Solved! It was the thermistor wire. It wasn't completely broke, but I finally got a 0 degrees reading moving the wire around.  Replaced the entire wire and all is well.

I have to say, the wire used in the press SUCKS!  I've had to fix two wires on the extruder motor already and now these.  After the extruder wires broke, I've anchored the wire loom to the extruder motor.  Think I need to come up with something better!
