Topic: What is causing this bad first and last layer?

It happens on the first layer and the last layer. I'm stumped what would be causing it. Below are pictures

Thats over extrusion, what is your feed multiplier set at? If you are not stock, are your e steps on the extruder calibrated?

E steps are calibrated but I have a feeling I set it too high because long story short my nozzle tip size was only sized at .1mm not .4mm. My e steps probably need to be turned down. I'll give that a try and see what happens. Thanks.

I lowered my e steps to what they should be at accurately. I'm still getting these weird lines. http://soliforum.com/i/?EQ4PjJn.jpg

Not sure what you mean by weird lines. That looks very near normal to me.. The top will never have a finish like the bottom. Here is an image of what I get when I print and this is what i have always seen on all printers.

I honestly think it's my filament because I've had way cleaner surfaces than this before. I am drying my other filaments out as I speak and will test them later.

Well that print I did was on a fresh opened spool and I think it is just like yours which is what I have seen from most printers. The only time I saw better top layer was with cura .

Really? Interesting. Thanks for that info. I am really hating S3Ds support layers. I heard cuts has good supports too.
