Topic: kapton/ pet tape

I was wondering when you use kapton or pet tape.  do you still have to apply anything on them for abs to stick?  I tried to do it a print but it did not stick to it.

For ABS I use kapton tape with a light layer of ABS juice applied on top with a brush. It sticks really well....

I usually just hit print and it heats up.  I think it was 273.  But how can you set the bed to heat up?

If you are running all stock, you can't. You might want to confirm on your display what you print nozzle and bed  temps are. For an all stock machine nozzle temp should be closer to 190 and your bed temp should be around 90. ABS will not stick well to bare glass or kapton which has the same properties as bare glass. Personally I dont bother with Kapton. I just use Elmers purple glue sticks. They go on purple but dry clear so I can see if I missed any spots. One application is good for 4 prints then it just wipes of with a wet cloth.

If you are having problems getting stuff to syick thrn you may want to checkout the manual bed cslibration procedure that is a sticky at the top 9f the Da Vinci section. Nearly all issues with adherence can be traced bsck to improper bed calibration.

Re: kapton/ pet tape

Kapton is the best. What happens is oil from your hands gets on the tape and you need to clean the tape surface using a little acetone on a paper towel. You really should avoid using bare glass as that's how people get chipped glass beds. You can also use glue on the kapton tape. The best thing about kapton tape is if the print gets stuck all you have to do it pull the tape off and the print pops off

Re: kapton/ pet tape

I run my bed at 110°c and the Nozzle at 230°c for ABS with printer enclosed.
