Topic: Replacement build plate

I am concerned that I will eventually break my glass plate. Would the replacements for the SD4 work fine with the Press? They are 8x8 whereas the Press plate is longer, but I don't think it actually needs glass at the very back.

Orrrrr go to the hardware store (any hardware store) and get some glass cut.

Re: Replacement build plate

If you REALLY wanted to be fancy, you could get some oven glass. It's more expensive, but tougher. I have heard of one or two people accidentally pulling chips off of the cheaper plate glass when taking parts off the table.

With proper calibration and patience that doesn't happen.

Re: Replacement build plate

I have been using window glass from the local harware store since I purchased my printer, about 10 months . IIRC it cost $3.00
http://www.mcmaster.com/#glass-stock/=x7hnrp has borosilicate glass for about $25 for a 8 x 8 piece. choice of 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 for that price . Other sizes and thickness available.
I print with PLA and and use aqua net hair spray.
