Topic: DaVinci 1.0 - Extruder sticking on X-axis

Hi all, I hope you can help with this because XYZPrinting themselves are being NO help whatsoever and it's really starting to annoy me...

I've had my DaVinci 1.0 for just about a year now and in that time I've had maybe seven months of use out of it because it is CONSTANTLY breaking down.  The latest fault is that when a file is printing the printer will lay down the first few layers, enough to stick the model to the print bed, and then the extruder will make a jarring noise and seem to stick when moving on the X axis.  See the attached photo for the result.  I've checked the movement of the extruder when the printer is off and everything seems to be moving freely, so I am very much at a loss as to what it could be that's causing this problem.

This is doubly frustrating as I'm trying to start a small business as a bespoke designer and when the printer keeps breaking down I can't check whether models work or not before I publish them.  I'd very much appreciate any help that anyone could offer.

Many thanks!

Your harness to the x opto sensor in the right of the gantry may be intermittent.  This will cause the x carriage to stop moving right and makr that as the new x home position.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I had a similar issue at one point, it was the filament not drawing out of the cartridge freely. Also double check you removed the white silicon bung from the cart as this can cause it not to draw freely.

Check cables that connect from x axis motor to motherboard. Check contenuity between motor connection and motherboard. Had an intermittent problem where x axis would skip around as it moved along y axis. Blue cable was damaged where cable tie connected to x axis motor.
