Topic: How much have you spent on filament so far?

How much would you estimate you've spent on filament so far? Not the used stuff, just everything you've ordered thus far. How long have you had your 3d printer?

For me I estimated $500+ and almost a year and a half!

Re: How much have you spent on filament so far?

I've owned my printers for a little over 2 years.  During this time I bought around 15-16 rolls of ABS,maybe a bit more.  So assuming $25 per roll,  I've spent somewhere between $400 and $500.

However, I still have at least 4-5 rolls that are at least half full.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...

So far  I bought 5 rolls of filament (3 ABS, 2 PLA) from China, cost me around 170 USD. This is my first printer, I have it for around 2 months. Used around 1 roll.

if you do different colors ya gotta have all colors even if only a couple get used most time had my printer 2 years and just finished 1st full roll but got 12 others either part used or full. cost range from $15 -$45 per roll dep on what and where from. got 4 more coming as gift and all are stored in air tight box with descant. good investment only 1 PLA want to trade it for another ABS like others as they last longer and print better for me. got a glow in dark also havnt tried yet.

Re: How much have you spent on filament so far?

owned 2 printers for 4 years. SD2 pro and mendel prusa only went through:
2 rolls X 2.2lb ABS
1 roll X 2.2lb PLA

but very rarely do i have both printers operational... it's always one is down while the other is printing parts to mod the other. i thought i was going to go through filament a lot and they take forever to bring in from china or even 2 provinces away from the same country, so i ordered quite a lot... now have about 5 rolls of various materials and sizes lying around.

but i found a local electronics shop that sells filament by MG Chemical. so when i get through my filaments i'm going to just get them locally.

Re: How much have you spent on filament so far?

Have had the printer about 9 months. Have purchased IIRC 6 roll of  PLA from microcenter for $15 to $20 per 1 kilo  roll. And a couple
small 500 g rolls from Printed solid . Also some premium Colorfab from PS. all totaled about $250- $300 . Without looking I am guessing I have actuality used about a kilo and a half.
the rue of thumb is a kilo roll is expected to last a month but it all depends on the number of prints and size.

Re: How much have you spent on filament so far?

I've made it all myself, about 200kg so far.

So $5000 worth of filament, cost me about $600 in raw material.

Re: How much have you spent on filament so far?

I haven't even used 1 full roll, and have only bought 3 rolls,  for around $100. Most of my printing was to improve my printer. What are you guys printing?

Re: How much have you spent on filament so far?

lets see...got the printer in February this year...

purchased 4 rolls of ABS - all different colors, at a cost of about $125 with shipping, and we have 6 rolls of PLA at about $165 w/shipping - again, all different colors... so almost $300 in filament costs...

haven't killed any of them yet, but have a couple that are getting pretty low...

as to what have I printed... naturally upgrades for the printer - lawsy carriages (more than once, LOL), Y axis idler pulley brackets, X motor fan mount, an E3D v6 mount, a bunch scale RC stuff, and my big thing right now - brain teaser puzzles. smile
