Topic: My second n00b question today- Mac software won't recognize printer

Hello all. When I got my printer home and first set it up I used a feeble netbook-style win8 laptop to get started. Now that I've made room to put a monitor next to the printer on a new worktable I want to use my Mac Mini instead. I d/led the mac software and installed but the 'print' option stays grayed out. I've reinstalled the xyzware, rebooted, cycled the printer, unplugged it, etc,etc, all with no luck. When I hook up back to the netbook all is fine, even when I switch usb ports around. I tried this after reading that someone had trouble getting their macbook to recognize the printer after unplugging. Needless to say I've already tried every usb port on my mac mini but the icon stays grey. There was a hotfix posted but it is for an older version. How do I use the printer with different computers? The netbook I started with is just way too underpowered to keep using. Slicing takes forever and crashes 1/2 the time.

Don't have any solution for you, except to say that I often use my mini to drive my DaVinci's, which would leave me to conclude that your problem isn't just because you're using a mini. What release of OS X are you using? I'm running yosemite.

I'm using 10.8.5 on the Mini. I didn't know if updating the firmware through the win version of xyzware somehow affected things. On the lcd screen the Davinci shows 1.0.6 as the current version.

Just an update: I got the printer moved over near one of my iMacs (2008 w/ 10.8.5 also) and installed xyzware on that mac. From that rig the printer connects w/out a hitch. ??? Could there be something about the USB ports on the mini? It's a 2009 so all the ports should be 2.0.
