Topic: 3rd Party Firmware Question

So I got my printer a few days ago and finally got the time to work on it. I got S3D and my printer is at 1.0.1 firmware and I will not update it due to all the issues that have been roaming around the forums. My question is when you install 3rd party firmware, do you have to re calibrate the machine, I can probably do it but I do not have the time atm. That and I need to get more filament and do not want to use XYZs proprietary crap. Plus I live by a Microcenter so I can go and pick it up whenever.
So far my results have been great and I can't wait to mod this printer yikes

When you install 3rd party firmware you can go with default settings for the most part but since every machine is different, at some point you will want to calibrate things like e-steps and feed rates. To make sure what you design is what you print.

Firmware such as Repetier .92 has the settings already defaulted pretty close. Right now Repetier is the only firmware that will work on the stock controller.

I am printing with the latest version of simplify, and a older firmware version (I resisted the repeated requests to update), on my 1.0A XYZprinter.  An earlier version of simplify was not working well.

But I found that the printing speed when you drop from 1000 mm/min (default in the process dialogue window)  to 800 it goes well, nice a fast still. Also I set the bed temp to 100 degrees C. I notice that the lastest xyz ware commented out the bed temperature ( by looking at the downloaded offline gcode file). Is this a deliberate problem aimd at getting customers to update to the latest firmware (with whatever 'extras' on board)? Nasty business practice! The lack of the bed temp causes the bed to start to cool well below the default 90 degress C, and so the print lose their grip on the bed, which happened to me, so causing me to
recalibrate the bed height.
