Topic: Brand New Duo

Hello,
I have a brand new duo printer.  I'm unable to load filament 1. Filament 2 seems to work fine.
The motor sounds like it's running to pull in the filament and I've cleaned the extruder with the wire cleaner. There doesn't seem to be a blockage, but I just can't get it to load. Is there a way to check the rollers or gears or whatever pulls in the filament? I have measured the depth the each filament enters the printer and there is about a 1/2 inch less going into head #1.
Since the printer is new I'm not super thrilled with the idea of cutting ties and removing wiring. I feel like a 4" wire cleaner would help me just push whatever is in there out.

Also the Mac software won't connect to the printer... XYZware doesn't seem like a great app. But I'll deal with that after I get filament to move.

I also figured out the xyzware  1.0.9 can see the printer... Although it says it's not the correct printer.  1.3.5 doesn't see it at all.

Ive been using a 2.0 since Christmas, my right extruder clogged a month ago and I haven't taken it apart yet so I just use the left.
When you push the filament into the head, make sure you are also pinching the "clips" together at the same time...2 handed operation..my clip handles have a green rubber covers on them...when you push the filament in it goes down pretty far, goes in a couple inches and you can feel a small amount of resistance then sinks another 3 or so it seems like...never measured.
when its ready, I feed in an inch then push the handles together then try to push it in the remaining 4 inches or so and let go of the clips..it starts pulling in right away after that.

Thanks... Yep I pinching the "clips".  The reason I'm pretty sure I'm not getting the one head down all the way is the measurement.  Also I don't have to "unload" to take it out. The filament is never melted.  The left side I can't pull out without doing an unload which heats up the extruder.
Something must be in there... but nothing from me... it's been this way out of the box.
Thanks for your input.   I'm hoping to talk to someone tomorrow and open a ticket. Although maybe I'm being too optimistic.

Best of luck with that, I have an open ticket now for bed replacement...its been a little trying at times but everything seems to be going smooth now.

I called in... Wow it's hard to understand the girl working the phone. I get about every 3rd word.
Anyway... she had me cut the wire ties and take the extruders out of the carriage. It's interesting to see the path of the filament is wide open and free to not follow the path.... Long story short I still have a blockage I think.  Not sure what's in there since I've never run anything.  The filament doesn't penetrate the extruder #1 as far as #2.  I don't see how to clear it as that cleaning wire is too short and weak.

Day 5... still have not been able to print anything.  :-(
This feels the same as not owning the printer, of course my pockets are lighter.

Make sure the end of your filament isn't ragged and wiggle it while you push it into the hole. I've noticed on mine when I load the filament that when I push it in, there's an initial stop but that's not where it needs to be and after a bit of wiggling I can push it in about another 1/2" further and it grabs.

I've had mine for like a month now and had almost every problem possible. When it's working I love it, thing is a workhorse, and when it breaks I come here and manage to get it back up and running quickly. The whole process is great because I'm learning more and more about the inner workings of my printer

Well... Day 6.... After speaking with "tech support" I had to take matters into my own hands.
It was obvious they were going to go out of their way to avoid just sending me a new clean part.
So I removed the nozzle. Then I removed the brass heat element piece from the steel tube where the filament goes in.
I got the core of a coax cable and eventually worked out all the blockage. Again this was their blockage as I was never able to get red loaded.  It's working now... I think... running my first demo.
Now on to the Mac software challenge.  I can't connect to the printer.  XYZware 1.0.9 sees the printer but doesn't recognize a Duo. 1.3.5 doesn't see any printer attached. 
But I guess progress is better than no progress.... I just wanted to print some engineering ideas... not become a printer tech. ;-)

It wont show up as a printer. It will only show as a com port. Only software designed for 3d printers can see them as a printer. Also in tegards to sound it will sound somewhat musical with different motor pitches snd motions.

Crapware for sure!
Is there anything else we can use to transfer files to the printer?

Many put an extension cable on the sd card and moved it to the area below the bed. Then they can put files on it, call it sample01.gcode and print it from the printers LCD as a sample. Also if you dont mind 150 bucks Simplfy3D is supposed to work very well with Da Vince printers per the makers website for the software.

Spoke too soon... although it says "slicing".... nothing ever happens after that.
I'm not really a Mac guy, but I have 2 sitting where I had space for the printer...
I should just bite the bullet and get a longer USB.

Or get a cheap netbook. It could control the printer while you slice on a faster desktop.

Well... I was about to pull the trigger on Simplify3D   and I still might...
But just for giggles I changed from my iMac to MacBook.   And that changed everything.
So far it's working!!!
Of course I have no idea what's up with this iMac. Works fine for everything except xyzware.
I guess if everything worked I wouldn't buy more computers.
